Welcome

Hello all, and welcome to The Nutshell Prerogative!

Allow me to preface this entry by saying that, before I decided to start this blog, I had no idea how to spell Prerogative. In fact, I was so convinced of my former spelling of the word, (Perogative) that I looked the word up on three seperate sites. Only then was I convinced of my error.
This reaction is pretty normal for me, though. When I realize something is done incorrectly, I try my best to look up the solution, or at least figure out why its wrong. In this way, I find myself able to not only comprehend elements of politics, but to also be able to get pissed off as hell when things are being done improperly, or with terrible intentions, or (gasp) the government of any country tries to pass a law that is already illegal. Don't try to fight me on that last one, because past administrations and Congresses have not only flirted with the constitution, but they have proceeded to rape it before walking away twiddling their thumbs and whistling showtunes. I will share my views with you one day on the multiple instances of this spanning back to, well, the Washington era. But for the time being, I will continue with the purpose of this post.
Anyway... I got a little off topic there. Whoops.
Don't get me wrong, the purpose of this blog is not to criticize the actions of past administrations, not at all. I have the view that once a president is out of office, trying to blame them for an issue only prolongs the times it would take to reverse his actions. There is a reason that Presidents and Congressmen cannot be charged with crimes committed while in office, because then we'd still be after Clinton and Nixon and anyone else in an attempt to fix the past instead of readying the futute. Presidents and different Congresses have been undermining the constitution since its conception. Thats almost the beauty of the document. It has been beaten and crumpled a multitude of times in the last two hundred years of this country, and yet it is still standing. In fact, the constitution was made to be debated, thats why its vague- it allows flexibility for changing times. Therefore my criticism of those who have crumpled it will probably not span as widely as some believe it should, because the Constitution is an often debated and often rumpled code of laws that I believe should be upheld to its fullest, and this cannot be done if we spend all of our time re-capping the mistakes of the last 100 years*.
So let me cap off this first entry by letting you know what to expect. I will probably yell about laws being made, or debated, in different states and countries all over the world. I will discuss humanitarian issues abroad and at home. I will quote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as the United States Constitution often, as well as The Federalist Papers, the Declaration of Independence, and maybe even The Anti Federalist Papers, for sport. I most certainly will talk about the youth perspective of current events, as well as an activist's perspective on current events particularly below the Equator. I will NOT, however, tell you (the reader) what to believe, nor will I pass my opinion off as fact. My opinion is just that...my opinion. I will try to source everything I write to the best of my ability so that you (the reader) may achieve your own interpretation of the things I am discussing. This blog will be a place of perspective, but little else. The last thing I really want is someone wandering about, spouting quotes from this site in the stead of facts from a much more notable news source (Read: CNN or BBC). That is called propaganda, and I would really prefer if others did not use my opinions to feed that monstrous machine.

*unless we continue to prove (such as any instance involving Checks and Balances) that we have not learned from these mistakes. THEN you will hear so much on the topic that your eyes will bleed.
